Hey, shoot me an email if you get a chance. I'd like to pick your brain a bit about winter commuting in Vermont. I've been bike commuting from Essex Center to Williston for a while and could use some advice for the coming weather. Thanks!
Good info, for which I thank you. I am in Brattleboro, finally got all the clothes dialed in and just put on a set of Mount and Ground 160s. I like them. They were a little squirrely the first ride but that could have been me! Now I have 50-60 miles on them and they seem fine. They don;t feel slower but clearly are, based on my times. I have a 14 mile commute each way with a 1200 foot loss on the way in and a 1200 foot gain on the way home. Ugh! Anyway, I wouldn't do it if I didn;t like it, I guess. Thanks for the camraderie and best of luck!
Married. Two kids. Live and work on the outskirts of Vermont's largest city, Burlington. In April 2006, I started commuting to work by bike. In July 2006, my wife and I made the decision to sell our second car and try life as a one-car family. I now bike to work most days (12 hilly miles round-trip) and leave the car home for my wife and kids. I thought it would be a big sacrifice, but it hasn't been a big deal at all. We're saving a bunch of money, I lost 30 pounds, and I feel great.
